IOSH Safety Management in the Rope Access & Work at Height Industry
Aims
To establish a benchmark health and safety competence for those Managers and Supervisors who are responsible for rope access and work at height projects. The course aims to address those areas of competence that are detailed in the IRATA ICOP and ISO 22846, and that are not currently addressed by the IRATA Level 3 training scheme. Particular emphasis will be on planning work, to ensure that candidates are meeting their legal requirements and can follow established best practice.
Objectives
- Develop candidate understanding of relevant legislation
- Develop a working knowledge of Plan, Do, Check, Act management framework
- Develop a working knowledge of work at height hazards
- Develop candidate ability to recognise common hazards and apply suitable control measures
- Develop candidate ability to analyse a range of work at height situations and create the ALARP work solution
Prior knowledge
- IRATA Level 2;
- or, a manager or supervisor with at least 3 years industrial work at height experience
Summary of assessment
Student learning and the award of certificate will be evaluated using a combination of written paper and practical exercises.
